If you’ve served as a police officer, in the ADF, or in security roles, you’ve probably built many of the skills taught in entry-level security training. The assessment only pathway for CPP20218 Certificate II in Security Operations is designed for people in that position. Instead of repeating training you may not need, your existing skills and experience are assessed against the qualification.

ToggleWhat is the assessment only pathway?
Rather than completing a course, you provide evidence of your skills and experience, and a qualified assessor reviews it against the requirements of the qualification. If you meet them, you can be awarded the qualification. If there are gaps, you may need further training or assessment in those areas.
Who may be eligible?
- Ex-police: former NSW or interstate police officers
- Military: current or former ADF members
- Security professionals with relevant industry experience, such as security operations, access control, crowd control, event security, risk management, monitoring and reporting, or incident response
Eligibility depends on your evidence of skills and experience, not just your job title.
Why consider it?
- Your existing skills and experience are recognised
- Depending on your evidence, it can mean less time in a classroom
- You work towards a nationally recognised qualification
- It can be a next step in your security career
What to expect
- Get in touch. We’ll talk through your background.

A note on licences
The qualification is one of the requirements when applying for a NSW security licence. Licence applications are made to and assessed by SLED, and other requirements apply. Completing assessment does not guarantee a licence.
